DAY5: Diaper Drive

Today we split up into groups and went to stores . My group was as follows Tierra, Jack, Nilo, Adam, Myrna and I, we also had our adult supervision who was Mr.Wagner and Ms. Christine.

Each group was given a location, our location was Von's located 1 block down the street from our school. We had a diaper drive where we asked people to go into Von's and buy not only diapers but food, formula, bottles, wipes and any other baby related products. The whole reason we did this diaper drive was for homeless BABY'S AND MOTHERS, yes baby's and mothers are homeless too, just imagine being homeless ya that's a scary thought now wonder being homeless and having to care for a baby and not having the means to care for it, being out in the cold hard winter. Father Joe is the creator of Father Joe's Villages for homeless people to have a safe shelter, he has asked us to get these baby products to give to the baby's that unfortunately the mothers aren't able to give to them.
I felt like people thought we weren't just there because we had to be were there because we wanted to be there! My group was fortunate enough to get many kind people and very few not so kind people. The person who popped out at me the most was a kind of older gentlemen, who was full of enthusiasm and was willing to help those less fortunate, he just had a positive attitude and didn't just blow me off!!! I think the very few not so sweet people we came across doesn't really matter because so many great people can and donated and I'm sure those mothers and baby's will really appreciate all that we raised for them! Something i feel that i could improve in would be thinking about what I'm going to say before i said it, for example i said, "did you know that diapers and mothers are homeless too?" and also i said " hi were having a baby drive." So i think that i should think before i say.

I can visualize you approaching people Samantha. You were so brave! And you were SO open to feedback. That is what makes you great. :)

Was there anything you felt like you did to make you more successful?
